2022 Scholars

The Hortense B. Perry (HBP) Scholarship Brunch is an opportunity for the community to celebrate the academic achievements of college-bound young ladies. It recognizes the high academic achievement of high school girls by awarding scholarships to young ladies in the Louisville Metropolitan area. At the core of the HBP Foundation and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Eta Omega Chapter is a commitment to education.

The Hortense B. Perry Foundation with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Eta Omega Chapter, and it’s sponsors, celebrated and honored 15 high school seniors at the annual scholarship brunch. The Derby Scholarship brunch was held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. in Louisville, KY.

The 2022 scholarship recipients received $52,000 in supportive funds to go towards college. Over the last six years, the Hortense B. Perry Foundation has awarded $463,000 in scholarships to local high school students. The Brenda Russell Foundation happily added $2,000 to the two highest scoring applicants as a $1,000 bonus for each scholar.
